Volkswagen is making a big move to boost the number of diesel-powered vehicles it will offer to consumers.
The German automaker will launch the new Eos sedan in India this week and is already planning to launch the next-generation version of its e-Golf, a diesel-electric vehicle.
The company is also planning to introduce the Audi Q7, the first e-tron, a smaller, diesel-based sport car.
The new E-Goss has a base price of Rs 18,800 (USD) and comes with a range of up to 200km, but there are plans to raise the range to 300km.
The car has been built at Volkswagen’s plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee, which has a capacity of 3.5 million tonnes of diesel and about 40,000 litres of fuel per month.
Volkswagen is also testing an electric version of the Q7 in India.
It has been available in the US and Europe for about a year.
